{Plus a Not-Yet-A-Tween and a Bonafide Teen}

This little project turned out to be way more fun than I thought. I initiated the TWEEN portrait sessions because I have a 12-year-old who rarely wants to be photographed these days. He most certainly does not want me to pick out clothes for him for a photoshoot.

There is a time for match-y family photos, but one day I want to look at photos (or show him photos) of how he really was as a pre-teen, not how I thought he should look for a photo-shoot.  Plus, the alternative is no pictures at all, or at best, images of that time he was miserable as I forced him to sit for the camera.

These kids don't look miserable at all, though, and as it turns out, you can give them total permission to be themselves and still get great images!

 I'm ready to do it again!

Christie Stockstill - Yes! I know what you mean! I was a little bit apprehensive about the moms wanting "pretty" pics, but these moms really got what we were trying to do. I think it was important to set up expectations from the beginning. I even had questions about myself and my ability to not over-direct. Thankfully, all went well. I want to do more!
Hope - These are definitely the photographs that are real images of your 'tweens'.
I used to try to do a similar thing but I would get one shot for me and the rest for the mom...."smile".... Aargh!!!
You make me want to start photographing again.
Beautiful photos. Love them all.
Can't wait to see you.
