"Walking, I am listening to a deeper way.

Suddenly all my ancestors are

behind me. Be still,

they say. Watch and listen. You are

the result of the love of thousands."

-Linda Hogan

I've been thinking about this for a while -- about how to photograph multiple generations from the same family but in an artistic manner. I wanted to do a Signature Session (Water Portrait, Poet Heart or Wild at Heart) but not simply a group portrait and not to result in one giant print for the family room. I wanted to create something meaningful, something symbolic --  a treasured heirloom that can be explored over and over again and can be saved for future generations to enjoy.

For me, this means producing a fine art book.  Each image must be an artistic portrait. Each portrait must have its own page, and each page must be made of museum-quality paper.

Last month I shot the first of what I hope are many Generations Sessions. I am still working on the book, which I will gleefully share once I have it finished. In the meantime, I just couldn't wait any longer to share the images themselves!

The coming holidays (yes, they will be here before we know it) will bring many families together -- the perfect opportunity to create your own incredible Generations Session! What an amazing gift for your loved ones (even the ones who aren't yet born!)

* These shoots take some preparation, at least for wardrobe, so plan to give yourself at least three to four weeks to get everyone ready.

**Since it is common for families to gather around holidays, there will be limited days for shooting while family is in town. Get in touch very soon to save your day around Thanksgiving and Christmas!
